Martin Boersma is an associate at Taylor Oballa Murray Leyland LLP. Martin’s diverse entertainment and media law practice benefits from his 10+ years in the theatre and film industry prior to his call to the Bar in 2021. Martin advises content creators, companies, consumers, artists, social media influencers, and producers on a wide range of topics, including talent and representation, production services, distribution, option and purchase agreements, and corporate/commercial matters. Martin is a people-oriented lawyer and takes pride in providing his clients with quality legal advice to help them realize their business objectives in an efficient and practical manner.
Martin holds a B.F.A. with Distinction in Theatre Performance from Concordia University and an M.F.A. in Acting from the School of Drama at the New School University in New York City. Martin received his J.D. from Western University. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Martin worked in the New York theatre and film industry as an actor, fight director, and stunt performer, in addition to teaching in both Canada and the United States as a stage combat instructor.
Martin continues to be engaged in the theatre and entertainment communities in Ontario and New York, , and enjoys rock climbing in his spare time.
